WhiteCell - Protecting Mobile Data

The diagram below illustrates the local wireless network operator and the CellF-Protect architecture components installed in it.
Data arrives from the Internet, or from other worldwide wireless networks. The CellF-Scan network-based agents transparently filter the data according to preconfigured, network-wide policies. More stringent criteria are enforceable on the handsets themselves. The CellF-Shield handset-based agents filter the incoming or outgoing data according to subscriber or handset-specific policies (such as personal blacklists).
Policies reflect the view or goals of the operator and are set in terms of such goals (e.g., security restrictions or bandwidth limiting). The CellF-Manage management station is used to define the security policies and install them in both the network-based and in the handset-based agents.
